Kidney Research UK Page 1    The enjoyable task of distributing the embroidered Newton quilts to hospital renal units, continues around the country. Beginning on the 15th December 2005, Kidney Research UK presented the children and staff at the St Thomas’ Children’s Hospital Dialysis Unit with ten hand-stitched Newton’s Law quilts. Featuring the loveable Newton bear, the quilts were created thanks to readers of popular craft magazines Cross Stitcher and Quick&Easy Cross Stitch. To celebrate National Stitch Week 2005, the magazines featured Newton cross-stitch patterns and invited readers to bring their finished stitching along to the Stitch 2005 show at Olympia. The number of projects brought in was astounding and far exceeded any expectations of the campaign. As such, volunteers have been able to produce over 25 quilts – each consisting of 40 cross stitch squares – to be donated to children’s dialysis units across the country.
