Chapter 1 : Newton Begins... Page 3    One day Newton was exploring the cupboards all along the hallway that leads to the kitchen [ it's a very big house]. Finding nothing very exciting behind the first six doors, he had almost decided to give up on the last three and head straight for the kitchen for a choc chip cookie or three. He tried the seventh door and discovered a dark passage with steps leading down. Fumbling around he found the light switch and then he was able to see that the dusty stairs were carpeted and the walls, although now covered in cobwebs, had once been a rich red and gold pattern - not at all what Newton had expected to find behind an old cupboard door. At the bottom of the stairs Newton found another door, this one was thickly padded with leather and had a criss-cross pattern of brass studs in it. Newton had to push hard to open the heavy door, which swung shut behind him. To his surprise, Newton found he could see.
