Chapter 3 : Newton follows a Yellow-backed Toad and finds the 'Lizard' of Oz' Page 1    Newton arrived in Australia without coming to any real harm, but boy- was he cross! the long flight to Oz can be gruelling for the best of us, but our poor little bear was scrunched up in a suitcase - with baby's nappies and things! oh, well - at least it had been in amongst the soft stuff. First thing Newton did was try to escape. There seemed to be guards at every exit and Old Mr Fellows' relatives all around him. Then he had an idea. All the passengers seemed to be concentrating on the luggage that was rolling by, intent on getting hold of anything that looked vaguely like it belonged to them. "Hmm, " thought Newton, " if I can nip in between a couple of suitcases that no-one seems interested in, I could sit here until the conveyor belt carries me out of the building and off to freedom!"
